Cairns top scorer in Lions win against Superstars
Chennai Superstars is a team which has been seen performing very well in the Edelweiss series of Indian Cricket League. But today the team got defeated by just 4 runs, by the Chandigarh Lions’ strong batting and great bowling.
The toss was won by the Lions who elected to bat first. Openers Vincent and Elliot made a very good start for the team and shot up the morale of the players in the stands. Hits and boundaries in the form of lofts in the sky were seen to go out of the park. Elliot scored 22 runs off 13 balls and was caught by Harvey when the ball was aimed for another boundary. Vincent made 42 runs off 22 balls. Manish scored no runs, and Singh and Mongia together contributed 17 runs to the score. Cairns came to the field and got some good runs which were required to the team’s score. Sharma made 18 runs and Hall, Singh and Tuffey made runs in single figures.
Harvey and Vignesh made an even better start for the Superstars. Harvey scored 58 runs and Vignesh scored 42 and added some good score for the team. Arnold however disappointed with a zero. Saravanan made 32 runs amongst the other middle and lower order batsmen who could not go beyond single figures. The team fell short of just 4 runs from their opponents’ score and finished up at 191.
Captain Cairns was awarded the Man of the Match for his great performance, 67 runs off just 32 balls. |
