Chandigarh Lions register win against Chennai Superstars!
The Chandigarh Lions have managed to get a victory against the team of Chennai Superstars which have proved themselves well in this series till now. The win was difficult and contemplation had made its place till the very end of the game.
Chandigarh Lions won the toss and chose to bat first. Vincent and Elliot opened strike for the team and managed to be there for some good time. The Power Play overs were made use of quite well. 65 runs were made but in the sixth over, the wicket of Elliot were lost when he had scored 22 runs. Manish Sharma disappointed with no runs and so did TP Singh who just made 9 runs. Mongia contributed 9 runs but captain Cairns made a mark with his 67 runs. Other players contributed small bits and the score went to 195 runs.
The target of 196 runs from 20 overs was expected to be achievable for the Superstars as they have performed well before. Harvey and Vignesh opened strike for the team and did very well with the run rate. Vignesh was however lost to Tuffey in the sixth over for 42 runs. Harvey managed to hang on while Arnold came on strike and got run out on his first single attempt. R Sathish came then and managed to get set on strike. Sathish scored 23 runs and Harvey scored 58 runs. Saravanan managed to get 32 runs more for the team whereas the other players struggled to be in the chase. With small contributions from lower order, the team could manage just 191 runs and were 4 runs short of a draw. A little more effort could have gained the victory but ultimately it fell in the lap of Chandigarh Lions. |
