Hyderabad Heroes Win Against Ahmedabad Rockets with VJD-target
In this match where the use of the VJD rule of calculating the target has been made in the Indian Cricket League, the Hyderabad Heroes have won the match against the Ahmedabad Rockets. This was a win which seemed to have come pretty easily for the team with Absolem, the “terror” moving around and swiping all wickets clean.
It is the first time that the use of another method has been made except for Duckworth-Lewis method to calculate the score in an obstructed match. The score was calculated out to be 180 runs. The team of the Rockets could not chase the target and a bowler single handedly wiped seven players of the team. The team finished off at 127 runs and gave a 52 win to the Heroes team.
The toss was won by the Ahmedabad Rockets and they chose to bat first. Maher and Shashank Nag opened strike for the team but the latter was run out in the sixth over itself. Rayadu then came on the field and with Maher with him, there was no looking back and a huge score was built up for the other team to chase. Maher made 84 runs and Rayadu scored 65 runs. Gillespie and Streak managed one wicket each.
When the Ahmedabad Rockets came to bat with Hinds and Dholpure as openers, the latter was sent off as quickly as he had come with just 1 run. Only two players, Aziz and Sriram could manage runs above 30 and the others were just a mere come and go feature for the audience. Absolem got 7 fabulous wickets for which he was awarded the Man of the Match. |
