ICL Match Reviews

Overwhelming performance by the Heroes over Superstars

This match was a clear defying of the way that Badshahs treated the Heroes in the earlier match. What these two teams had in common was that both of them were defeated in their opening match by the Lahore Badshahs. Maybe what clicked was that the Heroes were playing on their home turf for the first time.

The Heroes clinched the match by 7 wickets even when they went against the current trend of batting first on winning the toss. Even though it initially seemed that plan would backfire when the Superstars started to bat, the performance of the Heroes let them make a comeback into the match and was it overpowering! You have to see it to believe it.

Harvey and Vignesh opened batting for the Superstars and it was only after a score of 49 runs and the end of power play that the Heroes got the first breakthrough in the wicket of Vignesh who went at 17 runs. Runs kept coming in the form of a few sixes and many fours, and so did wickets. The Superstars were not able to contain themselves on the field and kept getting out after every couple of overs or so. Hemang and Harvey scored the maximum with 33 and 49 runs.

As soon as the innings of the Heroes began, both the openers lost their wickets before end of the first over. Things started to look bad here. Rayadu and Boje seemed to hold on for some time but Rayadu too went back at 16 with Kemp coming in. It was then that the Heroes did not seem to look back. Both Kemp and Boje played an excellent innings and managed unbeaten 66 and 61 runs and therefore deserved the shared Man of the Match that they received.
