Superstars make it to semi-finals by win over Rockets

Date : 27th March
Place : Gurgaon

By all probability now, the Chennai Superstars have now made it to the semi-finals of the Edelweiss Challenge of the Indian Cricket League. This entry in the semi-finals is attributed to the win of the team over Ahmedabad Rockets by 22 runs.

Lady Luck has recently been seen favoring the winners. The Chennai Superstars won the toss and chose to bat first. This gave them the chance to form a lead over the Rockets by making a good score and pressurizing them. Harvey and Vignesh opened strike but Harvey had to go back after just a score of 5 runs. Vignesh was there for slightly longer and managed 11 runs. It was however to the credit of Arnold who scored good runs for the team and managed to pull across 69 runs off 51 balls. Initially it was Law but later Badani supported his batting. He scored 45 runs off 47 balls. Gillespie hauled three wickets in 4 overs.

The openers Hinds and Martyn came in for the Ahmedabad Rockets. The former could manage to stay but Martyn went off after 7 runs. 21 runs were scored by Hinds and Goodwin could manage just 8 after him. It seemed as Aziz, Sriram and Jain took it as a joint responsibility to lead their team to a win. They scored 24, 30 and 20 runs respectively. Streak managed ten more but the team finished at 139 runs. Shabbir Ahmed made a 4 wicket haul at the cost of 20 runs in 4 overs. Harvey also obtained two good wickets for the team.

RP Arnold undoubtedly was awarded the Man of the Match for his superb innings of 69 runs off 51 balls.
