ICL Match Reviews

Superstars show The Tigers face of defeat!

The Chennai Superstars have managed to register their first win in the Twenty20 series of the Indian Cricket League matches. Royal Bengal Tigers have failed to perform up to the mark yet again and haven’t managed to score any points as of now. The Superstars won by four wickets with two balls remaining. The Man of the Match was RP Arnold with his 66 runs.

Royal Bengal Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first. Das and Klusner opened strike and could managed just two runs each before they were sent back to the pavilion. Jhunjhunwala and Dasgupta came to bat then but the latter came back with just 8 runs additional runs on the board. McMillan supported Jhunjhunwala and they both managed to collect 69 and 50 runs each. McMillan then got run out and the following batsmen could not manage to go beyond the twenties. The total of the team was 185 runs.

Harvey and Vignesh opened innings for the Superstars and managed to hold the strike for fairly a long time till the team could get some stability. Vignesh however was bowled out by Hayward on 29 runs which then brought Arnold in the field. Harvey and Arnold made 49 and 66 runs respectively which got the team some solidarity of performance. After Harvey was sent back by Das, the players kept coming and going regularly but Arnold was there to stay. At the end it was Hemanth Kumar with Arnold who both led the team to a victorious 186 runs and won the match.

The performance by the Tigers was good but the Superstars fared better. A bit of better bowling would have done the work for them. But alas! They are yet to score any points in the series. Let’s hope for the best in the forthcoming matches.
