With win, Delhi Giants still in race for spot in top four!
The game was tough and competition was break-neck. This match of Indian Cricket Edelweiss Challenge saw the Delhi Giants win over the Hyderabad Heroes. The match was close but the deserving team won it well. Mahajan was awarded the Man of the Match for his all round performance. He got two wickets and made 36 runs off 33 balls which were a good contribution to the team score.
The Delhi Giants won the toss and chose to bat first. Gunawardene and Mishra opened innigs for the Giants and Razzaq opened the bowling attack for the Heroes. The openers made it considerably well with the initiation of the innings but Mishra was lost in the fourth over. He however made 14 runs and Gunawardene was lost at 28 runs. Abbas Ali and Bali made 16 and 12 runs respectively. Mahajan scored 36, the highest. Other players could not make any worthwhile contribution to the team score and the target was set to 138 runs in 20 overs.
The innings of the Hyderabad Heroes did not have a great start. Both openers were lost before the end of 4 overs at the score of 3 runs each. Rayadu and Boje also could not stay on the field for more than a few minutes and contributed 8 runs in all to the score. Kemp and Binny made a comeback in the match with Kemp scoring 33 runs and Binny making a half century in 41 balls. But that could not lead the team to victory. Other lower order batsmen also disappointed.
This match saw the Delhi Giants still eager to make a comeback in the semi-finals. Lets see what more is in store in the future matches. |
