| Dhaka Warriors is one of the nine teams that would contend in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) 2008. Habibul Bashar, the former Bangladeshi batsman and captain would lead the reins of this team that is solely composed of Bangladeshi players. It includes the recent internationals Alok Kapali, Aftab Ahmed, Shahriar Nafees, Dhiman Ghosh, Farhad Reza and Mosharraf Hossain. They will be coached by Balwinder Sandhu, who is a former Indian player, including quarto players who represented Bangladesh in the past.
This potent move is likely to impact Bangladeshi cricket. Some of the recruits have expressed their rage by calling them 'traitors'. In order to clarify the ICL stance, Bashar said that they are free to turn out for their country. This team comprises of 13 Bangladeshi players, which would stand for Bangladesh in the World Series of ICL. If fact, banning the players has certainly deteriorated batting line up of Bangladesh to a great extent, as players like Aftab Ahmed, Shahriar Nafees and Alok Kapali have already represented the country at international level just before joining the ICL.
Now, the squad of Dhaka Warriors comprises of Aftab Ahmed, Mahbubul Karim, Habibul Bashar, Shahriar Nafees and Nizamuddin as batsmen. Mosharraf Hossain, Alok, Kapali, Mogammad Rafique and Farhard Reza are among all-rounder. While wickets will be guarded by Dhiman Ghosh and Golam Mabud, the bowlers include Tapash Balshya, manjural Islam and Mahammed Shariff. The Dhaka Warriors are going to be the second city based team featuring players from a single country in the ICL with the only exception of Lahore Badshahs that includes only Pakistani players.
